Five: Leading Seaman G. Dunn, Royal Fleet Reserve, who survived the sinking of H.M.S. Cornwallis by U-32 off Malta, 9 January 1917

George Dunn was born in Plumstead, Kent in December 1878. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in September 1895, and advanced to Able Seaman in October 1898. Dunn served with H.M.S Partridge, April 1902 - November 1904. He joined the Royal Fleet Reserve in May 1909, and served with the battleship H.M.S. Cornwallis, October 1914 - January 1917. During the latter dates she took part in the Dardanelles campaign, before being sunk by the German U-boat U-32 off Malta, 9 January 1917.

Fifteen of the crew were killed, with the remainder including Dunn being picked up. He was demobilised in September 1919.
