France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R. (22271607 Sgt. D. G. Williams. S.W.B.); General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, South Arabia (Lt. D. G. Williams. SWB.); Army L.S. & G.C., E.II.R., 2nd issue, Regular Army (Lt. (QM). D. G. Williams SWB.) with six related miniature awards, these mounted for wear, generally very fine (6) £180-£220

David Garonwy Williams was born in Brecon, Wales, in March 1926. He enlisted in the South Wales Borderers in April 1944, advanced to Sergeant, and transferred to Reserve in January 1949. Williams advanced to Company Quarter Master Sergeant in October 1955, and to Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant in August 1960. He was commissioned Lieutenant (Quarter Master) in July 1966, and advanced to Captain (Quarter Master) in March 1969 (awarded L.S. & G.C. in January 1968). Williams transferred to the 7th Gurkha Rifles in March 1971, and advanced to Major (Quarter Master) in March 1975. He retired in November 1979 after 34 years service, seven of which were with the 7th Gurkha Rifles. In later life Williams resided in Neath, Glamorgan.
