Wilfred Scovil Soden was the son of F. H. Soden, and brother of Group Captain F. O. Soden, D.F.C. He married Dorothy Maud Graham in 1914, and had three sons together. Soden was commissioned Lieutenant in the 2nd South Western Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance in June 1915. He advanced to Captain and served in the Egyptian theatre of war from 7 February 1917. Soden practised medicine as a GP in Winchcombe for over 20 years, and died in Winchcombe District Hospital, 13 March 1941.

Frank Graham Soden was the eldest son of the above, and ‘was educated at Woodbridge, Essex, and after leaving school went to the London office of a big firm of importers. Later he went to Rangoon and was engaged in teak forestry. He had been there six years.... was 27 years of age, and he is reported to have died of black water fever in the retreat in Burma.... He was an outstandingly good all-round sportsman, having played in the Wimbledon All England Club Tournament some years ago. He also played cricket for Winchcombe and other clubs in Gloucestershire, while he was here...’ (The Gloucestershire Echo refers)

Soden served during the Second War as a Lieutenant with the Army in Burma Reserve of Officers. He died of disease, 18 May 1942, and is buried in the Imphal War Cemetery, India.
