South Africa 1834-53 (Geo. Hall. 1st Bn. Rifle Bde.) edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise very fine £300-£360

George Hall was born at Studley, Warwickshire, and enlisted at Daventry on 10 May 1846, aged 17 years 3 months. He served in the Kaffir War of 1850-53, returning to England in October 1853, before going out to the Crimea the following year as a Corporal. On 11 February 1855, now in the rank of Sergeant, he was sent to Scutari but no reason is given in the musters. He remained at Scutari until 19 July 1855, and returned from the Crimea in June 1856 (Medal with four clasps). Sergeant Hall was discharged at Aldershot on 4 April 1857, on reduction of the regiment. Sold with muster research.
