Thomas Simpson was born in the Parish of Ganford, Durham, and enlisted into the Rifle Brigade on 6 October 1851, a butcher by trade. He served during the 3rd Kaffir War, from March 1852 to December 1843, and afterwards in the Crimea, where he died at Scutari on 26 November 1854 (Medal with four clasps). Sold with copied medal roll confirmation and muster research.
