Henry Craddock was born in Gloucester, and attested for the South Wales Borderers in July 1890. He advanced to Corporal in April 1897, and served with the South Wales Borderers Mounted Infantry in South Africa, January 1900 - August 1902. Craddock was discharged, 21 August 1902, having served 12 years and 53 days with the Colours.
