Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (Surgeon, W. B. Slaughter. A.M.D.) initials officially corrected; India General Service 1895-1902, 1 clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98 (Bde. Surgn: Lt. Coll: W. B. William Budd Slaughter was the son of Thomas G. Slaughter, and was born in Farningham, Kent, in December 1848. He was appointed as Assistant Surgeon in the Army Medical Department in March 1872, and immediately advanced to Surgeon. Slaughter served during the Second Afghan War, 1878-80, and advanced to Surgeon Major in March 1884. He was appointed Brigade Surgeon Lieutenant-Colonel in July 1896, and served on the North West Frontier, 1897-98.

Slaughter advanced to Surgeon General in June 1905, and retired in December 1908. He subsequently served as Master of Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London, and died in Colchester, in November 1926.
