The use of enamelled barley-twist baton links can be seen in other examples of Giuliano’s work. Geoffrey Munn records:
For the wedding in 1891 of the Honourable Mary Adeane, one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting, Giuliano was asked to make a pendant to match an Italian sixteenth century enamelled candy-twist chain, interspersed with pearls. The commission was highly successful and the pattern of the antique jewel became part of Giuliano’s working repertoire ... the look became something of a speciality that did not wane in popularity until well into the 20th century.”
