South Africa, Cape Uniform, proofs for One Pound, a uniface uncut pair in black and white on paper printed by Perkins, Bacon & Co, 16 November 1891, with pencilled notation ‘Cape Government October 25th 1891’ (Pick –) [2]. Long tear in top note and remnants of paper mounts on back of lower note, good very fine to extremely fine (£140-160)

The Government supplied uniform notes to the African Banking Corporation, Bank of Africa, National Bank and Standard Bank
