18th Century, Yorkshire, Beverley, John Green, Halfpenny, 1797, pawnbroker’s balls, rev. legend, edge york built a.m. 1223 cathedral rebuilt a.d. 1075, 9.89g/12h (DH –; Davisson –). Struck over a Slavery Halfpenny [DH Middlesex 1038c] and with clear traces of undertype both sides, usual die flaw in centre of reverse, otherwise extremely fine and the obverse retaining virtually full original colour, of the highest rarity with this edge (£120-150)
