17th Century, Lincolnshire, Grantham, Borough Halfpenny, 1667, 2.17g/12h (N 2937-9, same rev. die but different obv.; Smith 105 variety; BW. 96); William Clarke, Farthing, 1.00g/3h (Smith 108; BW. 99) [2]. First fine and from a very rare obverse die, second a trifle off-centre but about very fine (£50-70)

William Clarke, apothecary, High street – Isaac Newton is said to have lodged with Clarke while attending King’s School, Grantham, at which establishment Clarke’s brother was usher
