An Irish flintlock travelling pistol, circa 1820, the large bore barrel stamped with Irish registration mark ‘F4597’, the left hand side of the stock inscribed with owners initials ‘I. F.’; together with a 1796 pattern Troopers sword, without scabbard, with applied paper label ‘Cavalry sword of James Frith, volunteer in Enniskillen Yeomanry. Used in Battle of Ballinamue 1798. The flintlock pistol marked ‘I. F.’ also his’, the grip damaged and with old repairs, otherwise both pieces generally in good condition (2) £300-400
The ‘F’ proceeding the registration number on the pistol denotes County Fermannagh in the Irish Republic.
