Sir Robert Peel Elected Rector of Glasgow University, 1837, a copper medal by J. Ottley, 46mm (BHM 1749; E 1291); together with an engraved silver award medal, named (Gained by John Purves at the Stockbridge Bowling Green 1870), rev. named (John Charles Purves Jan. 14 1964 from his Grand Dad), 53mm [2]. First mint state, second very fine, set in wreath surround with loop for suspension; an interesting re-use of a Victorian medal evidently retained within the Purves family £80-£100
