Miscellaneous Tokens and Checks, Transportation token: a Penny-sized coin, one side planed flat and stipple engraved with a standing figure, legend (Williams) below, rev. planed flat and stipple engraved (wen this you see remember me in 7 years I shall be free in 1845 Re 1838). Fine £90-£120

It is possible that the individual named on the token was Henry Williams, convicted at the Central Criminal Court on 17 September 1838. Williams was one of 240 convicts transported on the Canton, 20 September 1839, bound for Tasmania, but he died there on 31 May 1841
