Two George III marquise-shaped mourning brooches, both with ivory panels painted en grisaille, glazed and in closed back gold collet settings, the first depicting two birds carrying a knotted thread between them and bearing the motto ‘The farther I fly, the faster we tie’, the second depicting a seated female figure holding a plaque reading ‘memento’, with a sleeping dog at her feet, first length 26.5mm. £200-£300
