Khedive’s Sudan 1896-1908, 1 clasp, Katfia, unnamed as issued, edge nicks, good very fine £120-£160
The Katfia clasp was the second last clasp issued to this medal, and was awarded for the defeat of the revolt led by Wad Habuba, a distinguished Mahdist, of the Halawin tribe in Katfia in late April-early May 1908. Although the revolt was over on the 2 May 1908 the leader Habuba had ‘emigrated on donkey’; he was later handed in, tried on 8 May and hanged on Sunday 17 May 1908. In this action one company of Sudanese Infantry, 35 Camel Police, 45 Arab Mounted Infantry and a Maxim Gun took part; there were 17 killed and 39 wounded.
