Frederick Kilnester Selman was born in Tiverton, Somerset, in 1891. He attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards in September 1909, and served during the Great War with the Regiment in the French theatre of war from 15 August 1914. Selman was wounded in action, and discharged 14 September 1915.
