The Selangor Order of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah was instituted by Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (1960-2001) in September 1985, and was awarded for services to the Sultan and State of Selangor. It became obsolete following the Sultan’s death in November 2001, and was replaced by the newly-instituted Order of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, named after his successor.

Records show that the insignia of a Knight Companion consisted of just a breast star.
