8197 Private William McKenzie was born in Groves, Yorkshire, in 1888 and attested for the West Yorkshire Regiment. He served with the 1st Battalion on the North West Frontier of India in 1908, and during the Great War on the Western Front from 8 September 1914. He died of wounds on 6 June 1916, and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
