M.M. London Gazette 17 June 1919.

M.S.M. London Gazette 17 June 1918:
‘in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Forces in France during the present war.’

Clarence Clarvis was born in Frodingham, Lincolnshire, in 1898, the son of Thomas and Ada Clarvis. He attested for the 5th Battalion (Territorial Force), Lincolnshire Regiment on 12 November 1914 and served with the 2/5th Battalion on the Western Front from 23 February 1917. He was promoted Corporal on 15 October 1917 and awarded the M.S.M. before being posted to the 1st Battalion on 17 June 1918 with which he was serving when he was awarded the Military Medal. The schedule number on his M.M. card indicates an award most likely for October 1918. He was demobilised on 23 February 1919.

Robert Clarvis, the older brother of Clarence Clarvis, was born in Frodingham, Lincolnshire, in 1895. He served with the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment, during the Great War on the Western Front from 5 November 1914, and was killed in action on 2 April 1915. He is buried in Rue-Petillon Military Cemetary, Fleurbaix, France.
