Moses Stevens was born in Plymouth, Devon, on 25 September 1857, and joined the Royal Navy as a Cooper on 21 January 1886. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 13 February 1901, and was shore pensioned on 26 January 1908.
