Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Lieut. G. T. Hobson, 24th Bombay N.I.) good very fine £400-£500

G. T. Hobson was born at Baroda, India, on 12 November 1839, and was educated privately. He was nominated for the H.E.I.C. Army by J. T. Willoughby and recommended by his father Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Hector Hobson, formerly of the 20th Bombay Native Infantry, now residing in Cheltenham. He was examined and passed on 5 February 1857, and travelled overland to India where he was appointed to the 24th Bombay Native Infantry. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 3 April 1858 and died at Jhansi on 12 December 1858, aged 19. His medal was delivered to his father on 8 December 1864.
