Horace Kettle was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire. He served during the Great War with 1/4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment in the French theatre of war from 1 March 1915. Kettle was killed in action on the Western Front, 13 October 1915. On the latter date the Battalion were in engaged in the start of the actions on the Hohenzollern Redoubt, Loos.

Private Kettle is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

George William Newton was born in Middleton, Lancashire. He served during the Great War with the 8th (Service) Battalion, King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Newton died of wounds on the Western Front, 6 March 1916, and is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
