Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek (3845 Pte. J. Fribbins. Middlesex Regt.) good very fine £100-£140

John Fribbins was born in Richmond, Surrey, in 1874, and attested for the Middlesex Regiment at Hounslow, on 8 November 1902, having previously served in the Regiment’s 3rd (Militia) Battalion. He served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War from 2 December 1899 o 12 February 1901, and again from 7 November 1901 to 9 September 1902. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 18 February 1903, and was discharged on 7 November 1904, after 12 years’ service.

Sold with copied service papers and medal roll extracts which indicate that the recipient was also entitled to the Cape Colony clasp, as well as a King’s South Africa Medal with 2 clasps.
