General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, Northern Ireland (D081048A R. S. Hurst LMEM RN) mounted as worn, good very fine £50-£60

Ray Sydney Hurst was born at Littleborough, Lancashire, on 17 September 1948, and joined the engineering branch of the Royal Navy on 5 May 1964. He went to sea in H.M.S. Dundas, May 1965 to May 1966, and aboard Hermes aircraft carrier, from August 1966 to May 1968, when he went to Dolphin for submarine training, for which he had volunteered. He served aboard the Churchill submarine from 7 October 1968 to 2 March 1970, when he reverted to his previous service. He next served aboard the destroyer Devonshire from October 1970 to April 1973, by this time rated Leading Marine Engineering Mechanic. His remaining service was at the shore establishments Maidstone, Sultan, Neptune and Cochrane. He received his Northern Ireland medal on 22 August 1973, and was discharged in the rate of Petty Officer Marine Engineering Mechanic on 16 September 1975. Sold with copied Certificate of Service.
