India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Waziristan 1894-5 (2163 Pte. A. Coe 2d. Bn. Border Regt.) cleaned, minor edge bruising and scratches to reverse field, otherwise very fine £140-£180

Arthur Coe was born in Walsingham, Norfolk, in 1863 and attested for the Border Regiment at Fakenham on 20 October 1887. He served with the 2nd Battalion in Malta from 3 November 1888 to 20 February 1890, and in India from 21 February 1890 to 26 March 1895, , and saw action as part of the Waziristan Field Force under Lieutenant-General Sir William Lockhart in the operations against the Waziri tribesman between 17 November 1894 and 13 March 1895. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 30 March 1895, and was discharged on 19 October 1899, after 12 years’ service.

Following the outbreak of the Boer War he re-attested for the Corps of Royal Reserve Regiment at Norwich on 23 April 1900, and was discharged on 22 April 1901, after a further 1 year’s service, not having served overseas.
