Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (3327 B.S. Mjr: G. Jakeman. 25/Sge: By: R.G.A.); 1914-15 Star (3327. Sjt. G. Jakeman, R.G.A.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (3327 Sjt. G. Jakeman. R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (3327 B.S. Mjr. G. Jakeman. D.C.M. R.G.A.); Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, G.V.R., 2nd issue (George Jakeman) mounted as worn; together with the recipient’s related miniature awards and riband bar, nearly very fine and better (6) £600-£800

D.C.M. London Gazette 13 June 1918; citation published 21 October 1918:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during three months’ operations. Time after time this Warrant Officer’s pluck and tact have kept up the morale of N.C.O.’s and men, whose guns have been destroyed, or casualties incurred. He has on several occasions shown marked ability in control of the men.’

George Jakeman, a native of East London, attested for the Royal Garrison Artillery and served with the 25th Siege Battery during the Great War on the Western Front from 31 August 1915.

Sold with the recipient’s Mentioned in Despatches Certificate, named to ‘No. 3327 Bty. Serjt.-Maj. G. Jakeman, 25th Sge. Bty.’,and dated 7 November 1917, and mounted in a glazed display frame.
