Pair: Private F. Sharpe, York and Lancaster Regiment, who was killed in action at Ypres on 21 December 1915

Fred Sharpe was born in Leicester in 1884, and attested for the York and Lancaster Regiment on 7 September 1903. He served with them in India from 28 February 1905 to 23 November 1906, before transferring to the Army Reserve on 27 November 1906. Mobilized on 1 September 1914, following the outbreak of the Great War, he served with the 2nd Battalion on the Western Front from 2 November 1914, and was killed in action at Ypres on 21 December 1915. He is buried in la brique Military Cemetery, St. Jean-les-Ypres, Belgium.
