Arthur Wellesley Allcock was born in July 1893. He initially served during the Great War in the ranks of the Royal Garrison Artillery in the French theatre of war from November 1915. Allcock advanced to Sergeant, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the R.G.A. for service in the field, in March 1916. He advanced to Captain, retired in February 1930, and subsequently re-engaged for service during the Second War.
