Albert France was born in Denton, Manchester, and attested there for the Manchester Regiment. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 November 1915, and was killed in action during the battle of Amiens on 10 August 1918. He is buried in Bouchoir New British Cemetery, France.

Charles France, the brother of Albert France, was born in Denton, Manchester, and attested there for the Manchester Regiment. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action during the battle of Ancre on 18 November 1916. He is has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
