Robert Buttimer was born in Templemartin, Co. Cork, in 1878, and was appointed to the Dublin Metropolitan Police on 5 January 1900. Posted to ‘B’ Division, he transferred to ‘D’ Division in 1911, and then ‘E’ Division with the rank of Sergeant in 1913. He was appointed Station Sergeant of ‘B’ Division in 1920, and retired on 1 April 1924.
