William Hambleton was born in Gorton, Manchester, and attested there for the Manchester Regiment. He served with the 1st/6th Battalion during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War from 5 May 1915, and was killed in action on 5 June 1915. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
