47th (The Lancashire) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate c1812-1816, a most rare and probably unique example in unmarked silver. The rectangular back plate (8 x 6.1cm) with rounded corners and bearing a single cast silver mount, this displays the honour ‘Tarifa’ over laurel sprays enclosing the Royal Crest over ‘47’, at the base of the laurels a scroll ‘Lancashire’ (Parkyn 373), two hook and stud fasteners. Together with a hand written note by the late Dr. H Y Usher, giving details of the honour ‘Tarifa’ etc., extremely fine condition £2,000-£3,000
