23rd (Royal Welch Fusiliers) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate c1840-1855, an extremely fine example, the rectangular gilt back plate with a burnished edge and stippled ground, thereon a fused grenade in burnished gilt the ball bearing a crowned circle, ‘Royal Welch Fusiliers’ enclosing the Prince of Wales’s Badge and Motto over ‘XXIII’. Standard hook and stud fasteners complete with original leather liner, slight buckling to the top corners and minute damage to the bottom right hand corner of the back plate otherwise very fine condition £600-£800
