Norton Hill Colliery Explosion Relief Fund, Presentation Certificate, 470 x 380 mm., ‘Awarded by the Committee on behalf of the Subscribers to the above Fund to George S. Pollard for Conspicuous Bravery on the occasion of an Explosion at Norton Hill Colliery, on 9th April 1908. This certificate was presented at Midsomer Norton by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales on 23rd June 1909’, contained in wooden glass-fronted frame, good condition and rare £160-£200

Certificates were awarded to Doctor George S. Pollard, Doctor Miall, and 32 men who took an active and conspicuous part in the work of rescue at the colliery. In addition three men received the St John Life Saving Medal in bronze together with illuminated certificates. All awards were presented in person by the Prince of Wales, later King George V. Sold with further details.
