Daniel Clark was born in the parish of St. Clement Danes, London, on 16 March 1857, and joined the Metropolitan Police at Scotland Yard on 13 October 1884. Posted initially to ‘N’ (Islington) Division, he transferred to the newly-created ‘J’ (Bethnal Green) Division on 2 August 1886. He retired on 18 October 1909.
