George Stanley Coote attested for the Sussex Yeomanry and served with them during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War from 7 October 1915. Advanced Warrant Officer Class II, he transferred to the Royal Sussex Regiment as Company Sergeant Major, before being commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery on 17 March 1918.

Fred Battarbee, a native of Eastbourne, Sussex, attested for the Sussex Yeomanry at Brighton on 16 September 1915, and served with them during the Great War in Egypt and Palestine from 27 March 1916. He was wounded by gunshot to the upper left arm during the battle of Beersheba on 31 October 1917, and having been evacuated to Alexandria, arrived back in England on 21 December of that year. He was discharged as no longer physically fit for War service on 2 December 1918.

Cecil O. C. Dunstall, a native of Brighton, attested for the Sussex Yeomanry on 10 May 1915, and was admitted to hospital in Canterbury after being kicked, presumably by a horse, on the left leg. Discharged from hospital on 24 January 1916, he served during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 December 1916 on attachment to the 5th (Cinque Ports) battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. On 23 November 1917 he embarked for Italy, and transferred to the Military Mounted Police on 24 June 1918. He returned to England on 4 April 1919, and was discharged on 4 May of that year.

Thomas H. Wells attested for the Sussex Yeomanry and served with them during the Great War in Egypt and Palestine, before transferring to the Imperial Camel Corps.
