Seven: Warrant Officer Class 2 F. J. Rutland, Life Guards

L.G.) mounted court-style as originally worn, generally very fine or better, rare to unit (7) £600-£800

Frederick John Rutland was born in Warwick, in January 1920, attested for The Life Guards and was posted to the Household Cavalry Training Regiment, 1 May 1940. He served at home before landing on Juno Beach near Graye-sur-Mer, Normandy with 2nd Household Cavalry Regiment, 13 July 1944.

After the war Rutland served in Egypt with the re-constituted The Life Guards from 13 July 1946. The Regiment later served in Palestine before returning home, 16 July 1947. He next served in Wolfenbuttel, BAOR before travelling to Egypt and the Canal Zone on 27 November 1953, where he remained until 25 August 1954 when he was then posted to East Africa on attachment to the East African Independent Armoured Car Squadron - then serving on active service in Kenya. Rutland returned home to Combermere Barracks, Windsor, 17 February 1957 (awarded his L.S. & G.C. in 1958).
 
Rutland advanced to Warrant Officer Class 2, and was discharged, 30 April 1962. He died in Farnham, Surrey, 22 August 1983.
