Three: Colour Sergeant H. King, Essex Regiment

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (1591. Sergt. H. I. King. 2/Essex/R.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1591. Cr. Sgt. H. King. Essex R.); Khedive’s Star, 1884-6, unnamed as issued, mounted for display, light contact marks overall, otherwise generally very fine (3) £240-£280

Henry King was born in Norwich, Norfolk, and attested for 56th Foot at Westminster Police Court in August 1870. He advanced to Corporal in May 1878, and to Sergeant in February 1881. King served with the Regiment in Egypt, February 1884 - February 1887. He advanced to Colour Sergeant in October 1891 (Awarded L.S. & G.C. in October 1895). King was discharged, 31 January 1897, having served 26 years and 161 days with the Colours.
