Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (1876. Pte. G. Wakeling. 15/Husrs.) small hole drilled in edge at 6 o’clock, scratch to reverse field, otherwise nearly very fine £140-£180

2 officers and 42 other ranks of the 15th Hussars served on the Nile Expedition in the Light Camel Regiment, and 1 other rank served in the Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment.

George Wakeling was born at Great Marlow, Buckinghamshire, in 1863 and attested for the 15th Hussars on 12 June 1882. He was discharged at Canterbury on 11 June 1894, but re-enlisted on 20 February 1901, for service with the 34th Company Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War.
