Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Somaliland 1902-04 (A. W. Henderson, A.B., H.M.S. Hyacinth.) edge bruising, toned, nearly very fine £100-£140

Alfred William Henderson was born in Bethnal Green, London, on 1 October 1881, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 9 August 1897. Advanced Able Seaman on 1 April 1902, whilst serving in H.M.S. Nile, he transferred to H.M.S. Hyacinth on 21 July 1903, and served in her during operations on and off the coast of Somaliland from 9 February to 8 May 1904. He was discharged on 6 August 1906, his services no longer required, having been convicted by the Civil Powers of theft.
