Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Somaliland 1902-04 (P. Mc.Farlane, Sto., H.M.S. Hussar.) initial and first part of surname officially corrected, nearly very fine £80-£120

Peter McFarlane (also recorded as Macfarlane) was born in Edinburgh on 29 June 1877, and joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 13 January 1897. Advanced Stoker on 2 October 1897, he transferred to H.M.S. Hussar on 11 December 1902, and served in her during operations on and off the coast of Somaliland from 16 January to 1 August 1903. Advanced Stoker Petty Officer on 1 December 1911, he served during the Great War in H.M.S. Leviathan from 21 February 1915, until being invalided to R.N. Hospital at Haslar on 2 October of that year.
