Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (6B/152 Drumr. J. Queenlisk, 1/25th Regt.) edge bruise and some contact marks, nearly very fine £120-£160

James Queenlisk was born in Templemore, Co. Tipperary, in 1856, and served with the 25th Foot during the Second Afghan War as part of the Peshawar Valley Field Force, operating against the Zakka Khel and Mohmand tribesmen. He subsequently saw action with the Kabul Field Force in late 1879. Transferring to the Army Reserve, following the outbreak of the Second Boer War he attested for one year’s service with the Colours at Halifax, Yorkshire, on 31 March 1900, and served with the Royal Scottish Reserve Regiment until discharged on 30 March 1901.

Sold with copied attestation papers for his second period of service.
