Approximately 30 South Africa Medals with clasp 1877-8-9 awarded to the Royal Marines.

William Pepperell was born in Woodford, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, in 1852, and attested for the Royal Marines at Salisbury on 13 July 1875. He served during the Zulu War in H.M.S. Active from 14 April 1877 to 26 October 1879, and was subsequently borne in both H.M.S. Iris and H.M.S. Vernon. He was discharged on 12 June 1889, after 13 years and 335 days’ service.
