Lewis William de la Fargue joined the King’s German Legion on 30 June 1812. He served with General Wallmoden’s Corps during the campaign in Northern Germany, 1813-14; Netherlands, 1814; and the Waterloo campaign of 1815. He was severely wounded at Waterloo on 18 June, during the advance by the 1st Brigade of the Legion on the left of Hougoumont, during which Colonel Du Plat, who commanded the brigade, was mortally wounded. Lieutenant Fargue had to have one of his legs amputated as a result of his wounds. He died at Doesberg, Netherlands, in January 1833.
