Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz (Samuel Buckley, 83rd Foot.) fitted with silver ribbon buckle, light edge bruises, otherwise very fine £1,600-£2,000

Provenance: Dix Noonan Webb, December 2005 and December 2013.

Samuel Buckley was born in the Parish of Highton, Lancaster, and served in the 48th Foot for 3 years before joining the 83rd Foot on 27 August 1805, aged 25. He was discharged from Banbury Barracks on 2 December 1812, in consequence of ‘an amputated right arm from a wound at Badajoz, 19 March 1812’. He was then aged 31, formerly a weaver, and was granted a pension of 9d per diem. Sold with copied discharge papers.
