Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Navarino (William Butt.) light contact marks, otherwise good very fine £800-£1,200

Provenance: Glendining, September 1987.

William Butt was born in Brentwood, Essex, in 1802. He attested for the Royal Marines at Chelmsford in December 1820, and his subsequent service included with H.M.S. Philomel for the battle of Navarino, 20 October 1827.

Butt advanced to Corporal, and was discharged, 23 December 1842, having served 22 years.
