William Frank Watson served during the Great War as Second Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps in the Egyptian theatre of war from March 1915. He subsequently served in Gallipoli, May 1915 - January 1916, and with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, March 1916 - April 1918. During the the latter period he served as Adjutant of 74 Yeomanry Divisional Train, and then served on the Western Front, May - November 1918 (M.I.D. London Gazette 16 January and 30 December 1918, and 10 July 1919).
