Edward Milford was born on 28 September 1878, son of  F. C. Milford, and educated at Hileybury, He was commissioned into the South Staffordshire Regiment in 1898; Lieutenant, 1899; Captain 1907; transferred to the Indian Army, 76th Punjabis, 1913. Lieutenant Colonel, 3/1st Punjabi Regiment, 1921; retired 1925. Lieutenant-Colonel Milford died on 29 September 1944.
