Distinguished Conduct Medal, E.VII.R. (5822 Pte., 2nd Cheshire Regt.); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Relief of Kinberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, this medal with re-fixed suspension and erased naming; King’s South Africa, 2 clasps (5822 Pte., Cheshire Regt.); 1914-15 Star (5822 Cpl. (A. Sjt.); Ches. R.); British War and Victory Medals (5822 A. Sjt., Ches. R.) contact wear to first three, otherwise generally nearly very fine or better (6) £600-800

D.C.M. London Gazette 27 September 1901. Awarded whilst serving with the 8th Battalion, Mounted Infantry. Territorial Regiments of The British Army, by R. de M. Rudolf states ‘Private’s Oultram and Mason were awarded the D.C.M. for carrying ammunition to an outlying post under fire on 12 January 1901, on the occasion of an attack on Kaalfontein.’
